Per this related issue, I'm marking as deferred. If we need some sort of steering committee, that should happen somewhere in context of Open Learning Labs.
As this issue has been unattended for two months, I'm going to assume that Snowball as it's own entity / org structure is not a priority. In an attempt to combine limited resources, I think we should reduce the amount of steering committees and orgs to just one.... then if a stand-alone Snoball committee makes sense at a later time, we can open it back up... personally I've always been more interested in Snowball as a platform that we all can use. DrupalKata would be one such instance.
And with that, I'd like to gather around this issue, as getting a group of people/orgs together to work on these things is what we're talking about.... at least in my delusional way of thinking.
I forgot there is/was a dropbox folder with a bunch of old Snowball files. I added the relevant pdfs. Glancing over them (for the first time!), I'm getting a clearer picture that 1) the workflows are very similar to what we wanted for DrupalKata (had we not also went into hibernation); 2) with Kata now on OA2, we can implement this and effectively have a functional prototype/proof of concept for Snowball or other sites/platforms that have similar requirements; 3) aside from the fundraising/ecommerce part, most everything we need is already baked into the platform and I could build/configure the majority myself. We need to fill out the team, reviewing/revising the plan, and determining the budget needed to make it sustainable...I can help push all that forward (as I'm trying to do already) if/when the initial funds can be allocated.
Assuming this list is incomplete and out of date, we should bring this up to speed. Are there other related docs scattered about?
Amazingly I think OA2 will provide a platform that will work for the DrupalKata (at least for the short/medium term)... as the goals/features are almost identical to Snowball (think of Kata as Snowball for Drupal), it can serve as a proof of concept. Hell... maybe it'll work so well and we'll just clone the site for Snowball!
We need to assemble a new team. Per our discussion, it sounds like we need to rewrite this entire page?
I forget now exactly what type of realistic commitment/role you can take on. As the visionary (and a very well loved/respected community member), I think it's necessary for you to take on a visible/ongoing role - even if it's something like 5hrs wk? I'd like to commit to the same amount of time doing general wrangling and site building (I think this new OA site can actually be a proof of concept)!
The goal is to raise enough funds so we can pay the team leads (including ourselves)! Will probably create another issue for that.
Should we reach out to anyone on this list to see if they still can/want to assume any role? I guess we can do that with a post that we're back!
This is the first issue I've created (setting as private), so if you get this... we have already progressed!
