OpenCollective (https://opencollective.com/), seems like they/it could provide the mechanism for our 'OpenProducer collective' to support, sustain and grow OpenProducer and all related projects. The following should provide a good overview on how their model and platform works -
An intial scenario could be that we apply by connecting our Github account (https://github.com/OpenProducer) and have OpenCollective be the platform and fiscal sponsor (Open Collective takes 10% + credit card fees (usually 3% + $0.30/transaction)).
Longer term we could either become our own org or work under a complimentary umbrella (like Open Media Foundation), but I think this could be the best short term solution should we get approved.
Chime in if you think there's a better way (we need something!) - otherwise I'll reach out to these folks and try to hook it up.
I want to frame our need to fill roles around the possibility that we could work with/or become part of the Thunder Coalition and help pursue their goals -
to enable publishers to deploy rich functionality for their products very quickly and at reasonable cost,
to share functionality among publishers, fuelling the industry and providing excellent user experience with the individual content,
to enable industry partners to spread their outstanding services amongst publishers and to charge for premium services as the publishers grow,
to enable implementation partners to gain knowledge about Thunder programming and implementation in order to provide services to publishers and industry partners.
We could really add value if we can help them fufill their goals and expand their talent pool. Considering this coalition is funded by Hubert Burda Media, any lead roles/responsibilites we've been outlining should be considered 'paying' work.
It would be beneficial if we could fill out those roles as soon as possible.
